Looking for healthy options when you’re on the road? Here are some good choices:
CAVA: everything is cooked in olive oil and there are many gluten free and vegan options with mostly whole food toppings. They have locations throughout the US, including the tri-state area
DIG: many vegetable options with delicious clean dressings. Some of the menu items are cooked in canola oil.
Fresh Kitchen: if you’re traveling in Florida, check out Fresh Kitchen. They use only olive oil and offer many healthy choices.
In general, it is always important to look at the menu before arriving to make sure you’ll have some good healthy options; particularly if you have food allergies or sensitivities. Be up front with your server. Be aware that most restaurants add salt, sugar, and unhealthy cooking fats to increase palatability of food without raising their costs.
